Why You Need a Portable Bidet for Your Daily Hygiene

Picture this- waking up from the comfort of your warm bed, feeling completely refreshed, not experiencing any form of discomfort, uncleanliness. Just in a complete state of purity. Feels refreshing doesn't it? A state of complete purity that uplifts your mood and sets a positive tone for the day ahead. The practice of maintaining personal hygiene is not just a good habit, it's a fundamental portrayal of respect not only to ourselves but to others as well. Aside from self-respect, it showcases social responsibility and religious obligation.

For Muslims specifically, purity holds even greater significance as Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught us, "cleanliness constitutes half of faith", symbolising it as a primary teaching of Islam and the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH). This is exactly why Muslims are obligated to maintain cleanliness in themselves and in extension, their environment. Defocusing our attention towards-our homes, place of work, educational institutes- any and all surrounding areas is just as important.

In Islam, the concept of cleanliness or purity is derived from the term "Tahara". Ṭahāra is the Islamic practice of maintaining cleanliness and purity for religious activities, based on two simple ideas. First, certain actions like going to the bathroom, having sexual intercourse, or menstruating makes a person not ready for religious rituals. Second, some substances, such as pork or blood, are naturally unclean or can make a person, place, or object unclean, rendering them unfit for rituals. In Islam, Ṭahāra involves removing these impurities using acceptable methods, ensuring that individuals stay clean and prepared for their religious duties. There are multiple types of physical tahara; Minor Tahara includes Wudu and Tayammum, while major Tahara includes Ghusl and Istinja.

Aside from the Prophet(PBUH)'s teachings, the Holy Quran as well stresses upon the significance of maintaining purity.

“Verily, he [truly] prospers who purifies himself” [87:15].

Not only does this verse commands us to maintain physical purity, it also validates the need for spiritual purity in order to truly prosper in the life and the hereafter. That being said, it is important to acknowledge that maintaining physical purity at home a piece of cake, but what about when you're on-the-go? Traveling from country to country, or at work, or simple just at a public place faced by inadequate facilities and limited water access?

This is where a portable bidet would be a life saver. It’s a simple yet effective tool that ensures you can maintain high standards of cleanliness anytime, anywhere. For centuries, water has been considered the best mode of purification accompanied with toilet paper. While western countries from the start of time have solely relied upon toilet paper, places like Asia, the Middle East and certain parts of Europe have long adopted the washroom accessory and deemed it as quintessential for superior hygiene. However, recently the benefits of bidets have created quite a buzz and are becoming more and more common in the rest of the world. Let's look at some of the most important benefits of bidets.

  1. Better Hygiene and Thorough Cleansing

While toilet paper does provide a bit of cleaning action by removing visible waste, it lacks thorough cleansing while additionally leaving behind tissue particles. This not only causes Irritation but also harbours bacterial buildup which puts the individual at risk of serious health conditions such as infections, hemorrhoids, etc.

In this case, bidets not only provide a gentle cleanse but also protects the user for the above mentioned ailments, by providing a water-based cleanse. Islamically, this aligns with the practice of istinja, which requires washing with water after relieving oneself.

  1. Increases Accessibility for Elderly and Differently-Abled Individuals

One of the most significant perks of using a bidet is that for differently-abled individuals and people with limited mobility, including older adults, the hands-free cleaning of a bidet offers a level of independence and help maintain integrity, things traditional wiping, with assistance if need be, simply can't match. This is especially helpful for the elderly, pregnant women, or individuals recovering from surgery, all in all increases the accessibility of bidets and has been a major factor contributing to their boosted fame.

  1. A Must-Have for Travel and Outdoor Activities

Long road trips, flights, camping trips, or visits to places without proper washroom facilities can be stressful when it comes to hygiene. A leak-proof, compact portable bidet like the ABDEEZ makes it easy to maintain cleanliness, ensuring you never have to rely on unhygienic alternatives like water bottles or wet wipes.

  1. Eco-Friendly and Sustainable

Switching to a bidet isn’t just good for you—it’s good for the planet. Americans alone use over 36 billion rolls of toilet paper annually, consuming millions of gallons of water in the production process. A bidet reduces this wastage significantly, aligning with Islamic teachings on environmental responsibility. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, “The world is beautiful and verdant, and verily God, the exalted, has made you His stewards in it” (Sahih Muslim). Small changes, like opting for a bidet, contribute to a more sustainable future.
